Centenary launches capital campaign
Centenary’s $50 million capital campaign - Forward: The Campaign for Our Third Century - was announced in November 2023 during a special Homecoming Weekend event held at the College’s Hargrove Memorial Amphitheatre. During the announcement, Centenary president Dr. Christopher L. Holoman expressed his excitement about the widespread support for the campaign’s vision and his appreciation for the College’s deep roots in the Shreveport-Bossier City community.
“Everyone in our region has a Centenary connection - we are Shreveport-Bossier’s college,” said Holoman during the event. “We are so excited to be part of this community, and we ask for your help to complete this amazing campaign to secure Centenary’s place in Shreveport and its place in its third century.”
Holoman was joined by Dr. Donald A. Webb, president emeritus of Centenary, and Centenary alumna Donna Curtis ‘69, executive director of Shreveport Green, to highlight initiatives that have already been launched, such as the return of varsity football, as well as future projects such as the state-of-the-art transformation of Mickle Hall as the home of Centenary’s new School of Health Sciences.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of support from our alumni and the community,” said Fred Landry, vice president for development. “These important projects and initiatives are crucial to Centenary’s future as we approach the College’s third century.”
The completed Third Century Campaign will provide crucial support for advancing the sciences as well as resources for new academic and co-curricular programs, student scholarships, and ongoing operating expenses.
As of January 2024, Centenary has raised over $40 million of the $50 million campaign total, and the following projects have been completed or are in progress:
New fieldhouse housing offices and locker rooms for football, women’s soccer, and softball
New practice field
New athletic entry plaza
Renovation of the third floor of the Hurley School of Music
